Split Ends
Splits ends are mainly caused due to over brushing, excessive use of hot styling tools, prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays, use of cheap styling tools, coloring, perming, towel drying, brushing wet hair, elastic bands and finally lack of hair care and maintenance.
Apart from these causes, another important reason for the growth of split ends is ignoring the significance of trimming. To maintain the beauty and shine of the hair, trimming is important at least once in six weeks or else it will grow to the hair shafts and damage the originality and beauty of the hair.
Most of the people have a misconception that trimming hair will make them short but that’s not so. In true sense, split ends are the root cause of hair-fall and by trimming them one is actually giving way to long hair.
Here are some of the tips to remove split ends:
- Trim hair at least once in six weeks.
- Avoid using hot curlers or irons often.
- Keep scalp clean and well conditioned.
- Wash hair with a good shampoo with added nourishment and moisturizer.
- UV rays erode natural oils produced by the scalp. Apply gels and styling creams to retain those oils.
- Don’t use tight pincers to tie hairs.
- Use synthetic pillows or cover the hair with a duvet or blanket.
- Use a cotton towel over the pillow so that the friction is less.
- Choose branded colors for coloring and highlighting.
- Nourish scalp with a finger tip massage and go for a regular trim.
- Well balanced diet including fruits, vegetables, proteins and calcium is also essential for good hair.
- Detangle strands with a wide teethed comb.
- Use hairbrushes with soft bristles.
- Always use a conditioner after shampoo.
